In the summer of 2010, the Lord put in on Johnny D's heart to start a ministry – and in January of 2011, he and his wife did just that.
What started as a group of leaders meeting every Wednesday evening in his living room to share a meal, pray, and discuss ideas on how to create a ministry to fulfill Jesus’s commands has blossomed into The Rev Ministries.
The vision is simple; a ministry based directly on Christ’s teachings: love the Lord, love our neighbors. Johnny D dreamed of a church plant in an area that would allow us to fulfill these simple commands on a daily basis. God fulfilled that dream when He fostered a relationship between The R3V and the Agora Ministries, located just West of downtown San Antonio.
Agora offers four large community outreaches every year: an Easter celebration for the entire neighborhood, a Thanksgiving event, a large Christmas event, and a back to school backpack giveaway. The R3V will now be partnering with Agora on these events. In addition, The R3V offers a monthly Blessing Bash, help for young mothers, hospital visitation, neighborhood beautification projects, discipleship, women’s and men’s ministry, prison ministry, food donation to needy families, youth programs focused on the middle and high school campuses, care and prayer for widows, various children’s events, as well as a weekly church service on Saturday evenings.
